Update on Drink Driver outside ASDA 23/01 |
||
|
Good afternoon,
I recently sent out a message saying that I dealt with a drink driver outside ASDA in Rushden at 3pm on Friday 23rd January, and I said I would update you with the court result once I had it.
I can now confirm that the defendant, Matthew Kirby, 38, of Wellingborough has been convicted of drink driving and has been disqualified from driving for 14 months, and ordered to pay a fine of £325.
Drink driving is irresponsible and there can be no excuse. If you suspect anyone of drinking and driving please call the Police on 999 if they are driving or about to drive. If you have concerns that someone you know regularly drink drives, but they aren't in the process of driving at the time, you can call us on 101 or report the information to us online.
There are many misconceptions around the amount of alcohol it is safe to drink and still be under the drink drive limit. Ultimately, if you are planning to drive anywhere, it is better to not drink any alcohol at all if you are in any doubt.
Thanks again to those that reported the incident to us on this occasion; it has allowed an irresponsible driver who put others at risk to be brought to justice.
Many thanks,
Callum
